Darjeeling is situated at an altitude of 2134m in the Himalayas.
It is also known as ‘Dorje Ling’ meaning the place of the Thunderbolt.
Visitors can enjoy stunning views of snow-capped mountain peaks, including the Kanchendzonga.
Often referred to as the “Queen of the Hills, Darjeeling offers attractions such as tiny waterfalls, little villages, and a narrow gauge railway track.
The hill station is surrounded by world-famous tea gardens and snow-capped mountains.
Graeme Westlake described Darjeeling as having “A view Scarce Unrivaled on Earth” in his book ‘An Introduction to Hill Stations in India'.

Bangalore to Bagdogra Airport to Darjeeling - Arrival transfer

A drive to Tiger Hill, located at 8000 feet or 2440 meters, will be arranged early in the morning at around 4:00 AM.
Viewing the sunrise over Kanchendzonga Peak is possible from Tiger Hill, subject to the availability of coupons and clear weather.
After the visit, breakfast will be served at the hotel.
The itinerary includes visits to several places including Toy Train Ride, Tenzing/Gumpo Rock, Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park, and Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. However, the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute is closed on Thursdays.
A panoramic view of the Tea Garden can also be enjoyed during the tour.
Other places to visit are the Japanese temple Peace Pagoda and Tibetan Refugee Center, though the latter is closed on Sundays.
The evening is free for strolling around the market.

Darjeeling – Full-day Sightseeing

After breakfast at the hotel, there will be a drive to Gangtok.
Gangtok is situated at an altitude of 1750m and was made the state capital in the mid-19th century.
It has undergone rapid development since then and is dominated by large government buildings decorated with traditional Buddhist symbols.
Gangtok is also a resting ground for people travelling to North Sikkim.
The town is surrounded by monasteries and orchids, making it a truly delightful destination for travellers.

Darjeeling to Gangtok - Transfer

Breakfast will be served at the hotel, followed by a full-day excursion to Tsongmo Lake, also known as Changu Lake.
The lake is located 35 km from Gangtok at an altitude of 12,400 feet and is fed by the melting snow of the surrounding mountains.
According to legends, lamas could predict the future by studying the colour of the lake's water.
During the excursion, a visit will also be made to New Baba Mandir.
Overnight accommodation will be provided at Gangtok.

Gangtok to Tsongmo Lake & New Baba Mandir - Excursion

Breakfast will be served at the hotel, followed by an excursion to Yumthang Valley.
Yumthang Valley is often referred to as the valley of flowers due to the abundance of flora, fauna, rhododendrons, and primulas.
This place is also popular as the summer grazing ground for yaks.
After the visit, guests will be transferred back to Gangtok.
